Shadreck Chirikure is a Zimbabwean archaeologist, entrepreneur, and heritage manager. He is a professor at the University of Oxford and the University of Cape Town. Chirikure’s research focuses on the application of techniques from the natural and social sciences to study ancient materials and technologies in Africa. Chirikure uses the results of discoveries in the field and the laboratory to develop new understanding, conserve heritage and tackle global challenges in STEM-related fields.
He is the author of several books, including Metals in Past Societies (Springer, 2015) and Great Zimbabwe: Reclaiming a Confiscated Past (Routledge, 2020). Chirikure is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Antiquity Prize.
